Luka Doncic makes history: 10,000 points and counting!

Luka Doncic made history on Christmas Day when he became the fastest active player in NBA history to reach the 10,000-point milestone, accomplishing the feat in just 358 games. He also became the sixth player in NBA history to reach 10,000 points before turning 24.

Luka Doncic put his name in NBA history on Monday during the Dallas Mavericks' Christmas game against the Phoenix Suns. The Slovenian star surpassed the famous 10,000-point mark for his career total, becoming the fastest active player to reach the milestone in just 358 games. The feat surpassed LeBron James' record of 363 games by an active player.

Not only did Doncic hit the milestone, but he did it in style. His three-pointer in the first quarter ignited the celebration and cemented his status as one of the NBA's elite scorers. Watch this historic shot:

In addition to his speed, Doncic is also the sixth-youngest person ever to break 10,000 points, behind legends such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, Cameron Anthony and Tracy McGrady. He's even tied for seventh with the player who took the least amount of time to reach this scoring milestone.

This achievement is just the latest proof of Doncic's relentless pursuit of greatness. The 24-year-old is averaging 32.9 points, 8.6 rebounds and 9.1 assists on 49/38/77 shooting in 27 games this season.

Triple-double machine:

Doncic's offensive prowess has him on the verge of being unstoppable. His ability to score across all three levels of the game, combined with his excellent rebounding and matchup skills, make him a nightmare for any defense. It certainly puts him quickly among the most efficient triple-double machines in the NBA.

Remember how he had a triple-double in just half a game this season? Or how he had 39 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in three quarters of his last game? Doncic has 62 career triple-doubles and has had as many as six in 27 appearances this season.

His consistency is outstanding. Last year, he had 10 triple-doubles in 66 games. At his current rate, he's on pace to not only tie his career-high of 17 triple-doubles in the 2019-20 season, but possibly even surpass it.

MVP aspirations:

The honors don't stop there. Doncic is a true contender for his first individual scoring title this season, currently averaging just 2.1 points per game behind leader Joel Embiid. His stellar play has put the Mavericks in sixth place in the Western Conference with a 17-12 record.

What's more, he's a firm lock for MVP and is currently one of the top five contenders for the coveted award. With his stellar play thus far, it will be hard for Luka Doncic not to make a run at this prestigious trophy.

However, the MVP will also depend on the collective success of the Mavericks. Doncic may work wonders on the court, but it may take the entire team to step up and solidify their playoff spot for the ultimate individual honor.

One thing's for sure: Luka Doncic is on an unparalleled trajectory. His historic 10,000th point celebration is just the latest chapter in a remarkable story that will play out with many more amazing milestones in the years to come.
